Steve Jobs was booted out of Apple in 1985.
Apple worked with PortalPlayer (another company looking to make an MP3 player) to perfect their iPod design.
Pixo (pixle-pushers, who was founded by an Ex-Apple employee) was hired to desing the iPod interface that would work with PortalPlayers chips.
The first song to be played on an iPod (protoype) was "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)" by Spiller.
Jobs originally wanted people to transfer songs from their iPod to their computer but after more though he decided that it would porbably lead to piracy of songs.

"Even in this very first version of iTunes it was about bringing digital audio to the masses." Foreshadows. It shows that the future product to come are going to be good products from apple"(pg 51)
"It was like joining a basketball team and finding yourself teammates with Larry Bird and Dr.J."(pg 55) Simile. The author comparing joining a good basketball team to working with two Macintosh creators.

This section of the book talks about the people that were hired, the companies they made partnerships, and the deadlines Apple had to meet to release the iPod by Christmas season.
